GeoSolutions is highly specialized in the processing and dissemination of raster and vector geospatial data with open source software according to the specifications created by Open Geospatial consortium (OGC) and the ISO Technical Committee 211 which provide the base building blocks for the INSPIRE regulations. Its team is composed by renowned international professionals with leading roles in some of the main open source products for the geospatial field like GeoServer, GeoNetwork, GeoNode and MapStore for which GeoSolutions provides professional support services.
GeoSolutions counts among its customers major national and international government agencies as well as private companies worldwide. EU Joint Research Centre (JRC), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations World Food Program (WFP), World Bank, German Space Agency (DLR), DigitalGlobe, ESA, NATO STO CMRE as well as the municipalities of Wien, Helsinki, Genoa and Florence have chosen GeoSolutions to support their infrastructures. Thanks to the wide experience gained in supporting mid-size and large enterprise Environments for mission critical projects, GeoSolutions is able to provide highly customized solutions based upon open source components with proven reliability in order to respond promptly and efficiently to the customers’ needs. The primary objective of GeoSolutions is the integration and the complete interoperability with COTS software and/or pre-existing infrastructures.
GeoSolutions helps organizations building enterprise-class Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), integrating and tuning best-of-breed open source geospatial frameworks with proven robustness and reliability, among which we mention GeoWebCache, CKAN, GeoServer, GeoNode, GeoNetwork and MapStore.
GeoWebCache is a flexible, efficient and economic solutions for the acceleration of the dissemination of the maps into client oriented tile such as Google Map or Google Earth; GeoServer, the Open Source server for the management and interoperable dissemination of geospatial data according to the OGC, ISO and INSPIRE standard; GeoNetwork, the Open Source catalogue server for the management and dissemination of GeoSpatial metadata according to the OGC and ISO as well as INSPIRE standards; MapStore (https://mapstore.geo-solutions.it) the innovative webmapping solution to create, save, browse and share in a simple and intuitive way mashups created using content from OGC services or other online sources like OSM, Bing and so on. GeoNode is a web-based application and platform for developing geospatial information systems (GIS) and for deploying spatial data infrastructures (SDI). It is designed to be extended and modified and can be integrated into existing platforms.
GeoSolutions staff members are core developers of a many of open source software, namely:
- GeoServer: GeoSolutions staff members are part of the project steering committee and core developers.
- GeoNetwork: GeoSolutions staff members are part of the project steering committee and core Developer.
- MapStore: GeoSolutions staff members are part of the project steering committee and core developers.
- GeoNode: GeoSolutions staff members are developers for the project with commit rights.
It is worth to point out that GeoSolutions does not only use open source software products mentioned above but actively promote, support, develop and steer the project behind those products.
Lastly, GeoSolutions is certified ISO 9001:2015 for the “Design and development of software and related provision of consultancy and support. Design and delivery of bespoke training courses on the developed software”.
